1. What is DL Academy?
A tool for exam preparation. You open a question, answer it, and get the correct answer, an explanation and the legal source; if something is unclear you ask the tutor. The table remembers what you know, what is shaky and where you go wrong. Three modes: Learn, Weak points and Exam.
2. Is it free?
Yes. Practice is free for anyone with a valid group code. No subscription, no charge, no card details. If that ever changes it will be announced in advance on the Terms page and will not apply retroactively.
3. Is this official training? Do I get a certificate?
No. This is preparation and revision. It is not accredited training and it issues no certificate — a certificate comes only from an official centre. DL Academy is not an examination centre, not an authorised training provider, and is not affiliated with any examining body. The official regulation prevails, not what is written here.
4. Which exams can I practise for?
The first and currently live course is Code 95 (periodic training for professional drivers). The other courses in the catalogue are marked "Soon" and will open the same way: questions, answers, tutor. Each course shows whether it is live or still on the way.
Some questions in the bank do not yet have a confirmed answer. Those are visibly marked, and the "Only with an answer" switch hides them by default; turn it off if you want to see them too.
5. Which languages does it work in?
The site and the explanations are in nine languages: Serbian/BCMS, Slovenian, Hungarian, English, German, Polish, Czech, Romanian and Bulgarian. You pick the language at the top of the page and it is remembered on your device.
The questions themselves exist in whichever languages the bank holds. When a question is not available in your language it is shown in the nearest available one and gets a small badge with that language code — nothing is hidden.
6. How does the AI tutor work?
The tutor is artificial intelligence (AI) — a language model, not a person and not an instructor. It sees only the question you have open and the material attached to it. That is why it can explain exactly that question, and why it refuses to talk about anything else. The same goes for Lina, the guide on the landing page: she is artificial intelligence (AI) too. There are three ready-made buttons ("Why is that correct?", "Explain it more simply", "Give me a similar question") and a field for your own question.
Its answers are generated automatically and may be incorrect. Requests are rate-limited per visitor and there is a daily cap; when it is reached the tutor pauses briefly.
7. What happens to my data?
No registration, no account, no cookies — so no consent banner either. Your progress stays in your browser, not on our server. We do not store your IP address.
The tutor conversation is stored, pseudonymised (no name, no IP address), and the text is deleted automatically after 90 days — we read what people ask in order to improve the material. So please do not enter personal data into the conversation. The details are in the Privacy Policy.
8. How do I get a group code?
The code is issued by your instructor or training organiser — you get it during the training; it is not something bought on the site. The code belongs to a group, not to a person: there is no password and no profile.

9. Does it work on a phone? Can I install it?
Yes. The site is built mobile-first and works in any modern browser, with no installation.
It is also a PWA: in your phone browser choose "Add to Home Screen" and DL Academy gets its own icon and opens like an app. Progress is tied to that browser on that device — it does not sync between phone and computer. If you switch devices, use "Export progress" and then "Import" on the other side.
10. I found a mistake, or I have a question — who do I contact?
Write to info@dlproject.io. If you are reporting a wrong answer, send the question number and the course — that is enough for us to find it.
11. Driving licence B — Malta: how the course works, and how multi-answer questions are scored
The questions and the options are in English, because the Maltese theory test is sat in English. Under every question there is a "Razumijem li? 🇧🇦" button that opens the Bosnian translation of the question and the options, plus a glossary of the English terms it uses.
The three modes deliberately behave differently:
- Learn — translation and glossary are available straight away, before you answer.
- Weak areas — you answer in English first; translation and tutor arrive after that.
- Exam — English only, no translation, no glossary, no tutor, exactly as in Malta. The
Bosnian explanation appears on the result screen, question by question.
The exam is 35 questions, 30 correct to pass, 45 minutes.
Some questions ask for more than one answer ("MARK 2 ANSWERS", "MARK 3 ANSWERS"). We score those all or nothing: one mark only for exactly the right set — every correct option ticked and no incorrect one. There are no partial marks.
> Note. Transport Malta does not publish a scoring rule for multi-answer questions. This > is our assumption, taken from the UK/DVSA format the Maltese catalogue is built on. If > Transport Malta publishes a different rule, we will change the scoring and say so here.
12. Driving licence B — Malta: who may sit it, what it costs, and where
Who may sit the theory test. A full 18 years of age, a valid Learner's Permit and 185 days of residence in Malta. Bring your ID card or passport to the test itself.

- Theory test — €30.25
- Theory resit — €22.50; a paid resit is valid for 3 months
- Learner's Permit — €23.25
- Practical test, Monday to Friday — €23.25
- Practical test, Saturday — €40.00
- Changing driving school — free of charge
Cash is not accepted. Payment is cashless.
Where it is sat. The test centre is on Gwardamangia Hill, Pieta, telephone 21 221520. In Gozo the test is sat every other week, on a Monday (NGO Centre, Xewkija).
